TR6 Tail Light sockets

I purchased new tail light sockets. I spent over a half an hour and can not get the new socket to fit. I tried to put the old one back in and had no problem. I purchased them from British spares. Any help will do.
 
Mike, use a little de electric grease on the feelers and the rim of the housing. New are stronger than originals. Don't put a bulb in until you have them in at least one time.
