Tach works when I tap on it - help

When I'm going down the road, the tach sits on 0 most of the time. If I tap on the gauge face, it'll pick up for a few seconds and then go back to 0.

For those that know more than I, does this indicate a problem with the gauge? Is it a problem I can fix or should I just look for a new gauge?

P.S. Would somone mind posting a pic of how the tach connects to the coil?

Thanks,

Brian

Could be as simple as a bad ground of loose connection.

Since the tach is only grounded by the wire on the mounting stem, running a new fresh ground from the tach housing to ground makes a world of difference

But don't be surprised when, after you redo the ground, you find you need a new tach.
