tach dwell meter

Country flag
Offline
Some time ago I acquired a Matco inductive tach-dwell volt-ohm meter. I remember it working at the time I got it. I was playing with it the other day and the tach meter reads below the scale when the lead encloses any of the plug wires. There was no change when I reversed the direction of the lead. The Matco company no longer supports these old (1970s)tools. Any ideas what to do? All other functions seem to be working although the dwell seems high. The manual does not address this.
Thanks,
Rich

Just a WAG... does it have an internal battery that needs replacing?
Is it installed with the correct polarity?

Try your friendly computer repair geek. Probably can check resistors and etc. better than most and solder joints.

Good thought. Unfortunately, the ones I now are all 30 or under and have no clue what a tach-dwell meter is or what it suppose to do.

So much for modern technology!
