Tach Case Interior Colors

I usually post over on the Spridget section, but thought I'd venture over to the MGs to seek enlightenment.

Note the blue and white paint scheme for the inside of a tachometer case for a 67 Midget. Why the blue? Leftover paint for the undersides of WWII Spitfire fighters? For reference purposes, the hole at the top is where the bulb holder fits (for case illumination). The bottom hole is where the light and shroud for the Ignition or High Beam lamp resides.

MGB'd were also light blue....probably just to lighten the inside of the case & they had lots left over from the early Iris Blue - who knows....I repaint mine refrigerator white.

Same here... I repaint 'em white. The light blue was likely to "tune" gauge illumination. Shorten the reflected light wavelength. Blue easier to see in low light? They coulda just used blue lamps, methinks.

I wondered about that also when I took the glass off to clean it.
