T5 Question

Is the clutch pedal heavier with that trans?

Boy there are a lot of variables to that question. It mostly depends on the clutch cover you plan on using. The stock TR8 is pretty soft, but the Centerforce hipo one is considerably stiffer. The T5 requires you to use an annular sleeve type throwout mechanism that mounts to the transmission. You also have to be able to get up inside the bell to make adjustments. The stock system gets a little help from the leverage created by the pivot arm, where as the annular sleeve is direct. You might be able to use a different bore slave master to make the pedal "feel" softer.

I think that Don is looking for the answer for the TR6 T5 conversion. Don?

Rather vague, I sure was.
Boy Didn't even think.
Paul is correct.
Basically the TR2-6 conversion.

OK then. I'm out! I didn't even know you guys were using the T5. I just assumed you would use the Toyota five speed. On a side note. Why hasn't anybody used one of the Getrag BMW 5 speeds? For that matter. Why hasn't anybody stuffed a BMW independent rear end under one of those boxy TRs? I'm considering using one on my next TR8 project. Looks like it will be doable, but I haven't tried yet. Need to finish the turbo 4.0 project before I start another one.

Newbie to the forum, but I think you've asked a trick question ;-)

The transmission itself wouldn't have much effect on the clutch pedal,
That is basically a function of the clutch assembly, and the hydraulics between the master cylinder, plumbing, and slave cylinder, plus the distance of travel within the clutch springs working with the release fork.

MANY many variables...

If the replacement tranny is capable of using your current clutch setup, I doubt you'd feel any difference at all.

If you have to go with different slave (different diameter and length of throw), and the clutch is really heavy duty, Then there would be a pedal difference, weight for sure, maybe height and play.

Someone please correct me if I'm out of the ballpark.

Welcome to the Forum TD!! Nice to have you here.

You are not out of the ballpark at all. I think that Don is looking to see if anyone else used that conversion package and had any pedal pressure issues.

But keep in mind, that Don is good for throwing in the trick questions, so that wasn't a bad observation either.
