Synchromesh Hub End Float

The green Austin Healey 100/6 and 3000 workshop manual, General Data, page 15 states:

Synchromesh hubs: End float,
2nd speed, .007 in (.18mm)
3rd and 4th speeds, .031 in (.8mm)

It doesn't specify which model Healey.

I'm not up to speed on what that means.
How does one get that desired end float?

I'm only familiar with the laygear end float which uses thrust washers of different thicknesses to achieve the required end float of 0.012.
