It doesn't hurt to point out that not one of the moderators takes action on his own, unless there is such a blatant transgression that it needs taking out immediately.
The usual is for the moderator who spots the post and feels that it's a potential "no-no", to post in the moderators forum and solicit a second opinion before taking action. I know that this is what happened here, because I read the exchange between the moderators, albeit well after the post was taken out.
It's tough, because there are many cases where we find a post funny, or maybe it's something that we agree with, and there is a fine line between "leave it" and "yank it".
There is a good cross-section of guys who do the moderating, a university professor, a professional pilot, two ex-military, a minister and an ex-cop, and I know that between us we run the gamut of "political persuasions" so if two or more of us think that a post is too political and should be pulled then it's a really good bet that it is over the top.
