Swivel Axle question

If the top bearing surface of the swivel axle where it rests against the thrust washer under the trunnion is rough, can it be dressed and if so, how much?
Thanks, Rut

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the trunnion inside is not all rusty.

Trevor,
Doesn't the condition of the upper swivel axle bearing surface have a lot to do with the 'feel' of the suspension or steering? Mine looks like they took a crowbar and hammer to it to remove the trunion. The thrust washers and trunions themselves look good and I'm replacing the A-arms, kingpins, etc.
Thanks, Rut

Yes, run a flat file over it. You'll be shimming anyway, and with a new thrust washer it'll be fine.

They should be flat without burrs. I thought you were asking if it should be a machined surface that needed to be dressed as such.
