I don't understand your question. Disc brakes didn't become standard equipment until 1959 with the introduction of the 3000. Comparing the swept area of a drum with that of a 3000 disc is like comparing apples to watermelons. The mechanics of the two systems are completely different so any comparison of swept area would be meaningless.
I may not be wording this correctly then, from memory Dave worked out that the area of braking with the drums/stopping performance was not too far removed from that of some disk set ups and that the cost/benefit of fitting a disk set up may not be that much of an improvement.
