Sway Bar Bracket Problem

If you are going to do the job, do it properly, cut the end cap off, it is not in the too difficult to do range.

You could also consider an upgrade for the bar to 7/8" where you have to weld on a new bracket. Stiffens the front up a treat

Sunday drive revealed a similar problem with a sway bar mounting bolt on the passenger side. One bolt stripped-out leaving the other bolt to hold the bracket which proceeded to twist. This is the thanks I get for rear brake-work (new sleeved cylinders and relined shoes),replacing rear springs and a welding the rear panhard rod bracket back on the diff housing!

Solution is to restore threads on the blind nut with a 5/16 - 24 fine thread Helicoil. This should hold...right. Otherwise, it's to option #2 and more welding. The idea about cutting a hole to access the blind nut through the top seems simple. Perhaps the new hole at the top could be sealed with a rubber plug. Lots of modern cars use plugs to seal gapping holes where the high-end options were supposed to go. They also work pretty well to constantly remind the owner that they cheap-out with the standard, low-spec model.
