Actually, the article was about field repairs. They recommended a professional grade ratcheting crimper and high quality connectors (not the stuff you get at Harbor Freight).

I very much like the harness connection diagrams presented by Andrea and, I expect, easier to follow when installing then the documents mentioned in my reply. However, at the time and with no British Car Forum or easy access to the internet, they were the best I could find and still serve well when installing extensions and modifications.

What about laying the new harness out and labeling leads with a continuity tester? Would that be beneficial or more hassle then it is worth?

IMOP IT is more hassle than it is worth.

I did not need a continuity tester when I installed the harness in my 100 and the Sprite. The supplier, Vintage Wiring Harnesses of Melbourne, Australia identifies the cables with small numbers which are listed on a legend that came with the harnesses. Makes installation by amateurs like me very straightforward. Once installed the little tags with the numbers can be removed.

Have you started you harness swap yet? Here is the stock harness laid out. All the details of the harness are noted by all the connections on the board. You make a nail pattern and trace the original harness and then pull it up and route the new wire.
