SW Fuel pump

Years ago, the lucas was replaced by a SW fuel pump on my MGA....

well believe it or not, this past weekend, the car coughed to a stop...

Cehcked electronics, all okay, time to got the fule pump.. Nada...

Did the usual baniging around, and got the reassuring clicking, and so carried on..

Question, is, I don't want to be kicking fuel pumps on a four lane highway either, so I wish to replace it.. but, nnow I cannot find SW pumps... even going on their web site, the dealers that they mention close to me (in MAS) do not sell them..

any one know of a part warehouse that sells the pumps..

Or better yet, and good suggestions of a replacement ( and don't you dare say original Lucas replacement)

I was thinkiing of th 7psi holley, but even that is pretty large and powerful..

Bob, I put a Carter pump on one of the Sprites, and it has worked just fine for the last seven or eight years. One of the other cars has a Facet pump on it, and it's okay, but a bit noisy. The Carter pump was even dual polarity.

Quick Google internet search returned 131,000 hits when looking for "electric fuel pumps."

Not sure about www.victoriabritish.com, but I recall Moss ( www.mossmotors.com ) having a solid state electric replacement pump in their catalog. Many options, from what I can see, just double check the output pressure. A brief look at the Edelbrock website (among the search returns) turned up one that provided 45 psi: WAY TOO MUCH PRESSURE.

I think the number your looking for is about 3.5 psi.

Aloha Bob,

NAPA has a solid state electronic fuel pump that looks just like the one Moss offers. You may want to include a adjustable pressure regulator in the fuel line to fine tune the system to your car's needs.

Thanks for all the feedback guys..

I had gone onto the SW URL page, and both vendors they had listed in MASS no longer carried the part (sometimes the internet is a little out of date)

but the info on the facet is very good...I see those in a number of production race cars, and they always look to compact and simple to rely on... but your right I only need about 3.5 psi.. (even my production racer only needs that)

The Facet is a Purolator, is a Napa and is the same one in th eMoss catalogues. Napa has a new Facet and it is ablack plastic body and much quieter than the earlieer metal one. I use a pressure reg. to be safe.
