Anyone going?

As usual, we'll be there with this..

The country's fastest vintage MGB, Datsun Roadster, and Porsche 356's (and possibly Morgans) will be in attendance so we'll have our work cut out for us.

Wish I could go. I had a wonderful time there last year, but I think my travelling days are over.

Steve Groh is going. Remind him to charge the transponder!

What no Healeys?......................Hey if your looking for the best Triumph competition this year it will be at the SOVREN Columbia River Classic and the Kastner Cup. Kas Kastner will be on hand as well as over 800 LBC during the All-British-Field Meet at PIR (Portland International Raceway) Portland, Oregon 10/4-10/7. That's west of the Mississippi for you "eastcoasters".

Re: SVRA US Grand Prix @ Watkins Glen September 10

Besides Jeff Johnk out of the midwest, I don't know of any fast Healey's on the east coast and he doesn't come out to Watkins Glen.

Yup, we know Kas pretty well. Triumph was the featured marque at Watkins Glen last year.. we had the highest running 4cyl TR there.. here's how we were gridded (3rd oa of 31) for the "All Triumph Race" https://www.fireflystudios.com/wg/content/_FSD1314_large.html , unfortunately we had a valvetrain failure 3/4's of the way through the first lap while battling it out with those slick-shod TR6s.

John,

I'll make sure to remind Steve! He was pretty mad at himself when he ran one of his best sessions without a transponder.

John -

I agree we seem to have the faster big Healys out west, my Healey-PDX partner Richard Mayer still holds the track record at Road American from the Healy Challenge. BTW what's the problem with the Spritefire,
they're the slowest Triumph in our grid. I find the TR-4's much faster and more competitive to race against. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84YjV0xnC_Y

Mark York has entered my old TR3 racecar (white #14) in the Columbia River Classic Kastner Cup race. I wish I could go out for that, too.

Here he is at PIR:

He gets like that. Just make sure to duck if he starts throwing things!

Re: SVRA US Grand Prix @ Watkins Glen September 10

Doug,

There are some scorching fast Spitfires on the east and west coast. The fast western cars run with VARA. With SVRA's ruleset, they have about 1-2" wider track than a TR and weigh 500lbs less!

Looking at lap times from the Aussie/American Healey Challenge, your buddy Richard runs very similar lap times to us.
