should I buy the stencil to repaint my rostyle rims or just mask & paint?

https://www.victoriabritish.com/ICATALOG/SM/full.aspx?Page=112

(bottom of page - no number)

any suggestions

BTW, spent the day at a friend's house media blasting three of five rims, - a new experience - while off to one side an acquaintance worked on his Scootacar!

Waste of time! I've got several hanging on the wall...much easier to just tape them off by hand

Trust me on that one!@

I've heard several people say they are a waste of time/money. However, I've also heard of people having success using some sort of stencil adhesive. I do not know any details, but thought I might mention it in case you want to investigate further.

three words:

blue painters tape

:iagree: blue tape...makes nice clean edges...stencils = fuzzy edges & overspray!!

ive always thought u could use silicone
as a mask, and the just peal it off later...
but ive never tried it...
what do u guys think? .....z

i used striping tape and masking tape. The striping tape bends easily around the corners. available at any good parts store.

Mark - I like it (I need to paint my wheels...)

keep the comments coming - searched on ebay and found this - I know, not for a Midget but it might be easy to cut out of Mac Tac or something

should be quicker after the first one

I've always used tape. Takes a bit of time but always came out better than what I've seen done with pre-cut stencils.

My bro had a '70 MGB-GT we sprayed a Lincoln/Mercury maroon poly, stripped/masked the Rostyles and painted them silver/maroon to match. Looked kinda sharp.

If you are handy with an X-acto knife and use wide blue tape you can do it pretty quickly!!! Overextend the tape and follow the edges with the knife!
