Surrey top on eBay [ended now]?

I didn't - but I'm curious why a ton of those tops always are sold by a vendor out of San Antonio. I guess this was an original aluminum lid, but there isn't any discussion on the backlight which makes me wonder if it is the Microplas version. Looks good though.

The guy never runs out of customers who exchanged it for a different color, but this inheritance bit is a novel approach.

Saw it when it first listed. Looked nice. One of these days I'll put mine together, right after I get the car repainted. Too many cars , too many projects

I would have bought it if I didn't own a TR8 now.

Is this the guy who drives everyone nuts with somewhat less than stellar customer service but always comes through in the end?

If there's a convoluted story instead of a simple 'for sale' description and it's from somewhere in Texas..then the odds are it's James aka John aka Joe.

Yes Rich...same guy. Might take a few months and quite a few emails, but eventually is makes it's way. I almost bit on one and actually was competing with Morty from YYC for the white one he now has on his car. Morty shared with us the pages of emails related to the transaction.

That was before I bought my 250. I was going to put the surrey on my 6. Now, I really need to get one for the 250 as I really like the look.

Cheers,
Tush

Interesting, just checked feedback and he's sold 2 since May. One with delivery issues and the second mentioned they were disappointed in the delivery method.

He sells under a couple different names and locations. The next one might be San Antonio.

It will be back. The reserve wasn't met. That seems to be about $2100, if I remember correctly.

What he does, Paul is contact the highest bidder if the reserve isn't met and makes a "Second Chance Offer". In other words he has someone willing to pay the highest bid and the second chance offer makes the guy feel lucky. Worked on me.

a friend of mine told me there is a pipeline of original surrey tops coming from Mexico into the US...if you've got the right contacts South of the border.

During the 3 months that I waited for my surrey to be delivered, I spoke with james/john/ joe about a dozen times....on the phone. He said "his" warehouse is in Mexico because the rent was cheaper..but later one of his excuses for the shipping delay was the flood that hit San Antonio flooded the warehouse..so.. Hey, the story is subject to change. One time he told me he was having a leg amputated..then his brother/partner died. and on and on we go....Maybe it's all true I can't prove otherwise.

Ken, from what I read about the border life these days in Mexico, any or all of that is quite possible.

This is very curious to me. There is a guy who goes by jadajada, I believe and from Canada, near Toronto whose mode is very similar. Hids his real identy, is unreliable and deals on the shady side. Buys stuff from the southwest and resells. To give him credit I've seen some of his finished work and he does nice work. Desn't like if you ask too many questions and deal on the shady side as I said.
I wonder if he is one and the same. I know he sometimes uses a Buffalo person to do some of his US transactions, maybe he has a Texas guy for the same reason.
Used to see him on the VTR buy/sell website but not recently.
