Surprised TransAm

Shirley and I were returning from a day's ride Sunday. We were only a couple miles from home on a six lane highway when we had to stop for a traffic light and were a few vehicles from the front. A kid in a 70's TransAm was in front and smoked his tires when he left the light. At the next light we happened to be next to him in the front. I started talking to him and mentioned that it would help if he could get his suspension tied to the road. He took it well and we talked a little more while waiting.

Well, he must have decided to show me how bad he was and got on it again. Because I was not going to race I just started normally until I saw what he was doing and somehow just could not resist.

I pushed the go pedal down and caught and started passing him in 1st. In second I passed him and was fully in front. When I spun the tires in third and began opening up the distance he gave up. Was over pretty quick and there was one surprised kid. Shirley was laughing too.

I think the kid thought it was cool that a grandpa and grandma would race him and he waved and flashed a big grin as we turned off at the next light.

You rascal.

The wife and I were driving home at night last week when I passed a late-model 350Z. Now, my mufflers are pretty darn loud. The Z-car played cat-n-mouse with me the whole way home. He could've eaten my lunch but chose to enjoy the game. He and his young babe both gave us the high-sign as we off-ramped. He was faster but I sounded better. Bet he goes home and changes his mufflers.

Not quite dragging. I just get a little nervous red-lining a 34-year-old drive train.

It sure is fun to just be a kid once in a while! Who knows how it would have turned out if he had not smoke em so much, but this time it was pretty decisive!

And I do know what you mean about the old drive line, but, the devil made me do it! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
