TR6 Support for standard muffler

I'm currently installing a new exhaust system (old system was a Monza twin exhaust) and am curious as to where the front hanger strap would have secured to body/frame. I'm referring to the exhaust support at the front of the muffler (inlet to muffler). Did this strap go straight up and secure to sheet metal or to frame? There are no tell-tale holes on the front wall of the trunk well and I really can't speculate on the frame because the original is long gone, replaced by a Ratco.
