Not old ones, new ones. Admittedly I live in a large urban centre, but, I can remember when seeing a Lambo or Ferrari or a Maser was a rare experience. Now I see one or two a day. If nothing else, there's more money out there than we often realize. BTW they don't move me, they are just fast transportation anymore.

Agreed, there are even a few of them around here, I see a black Ferrari on a fairly regular basis, it seems to be used as a daily driver. This in a country were my Herald was considered a "upscale" when it was new.

My admittedly pessimistic view: there's not more money out there, there's more debt out there. Visions of 2008 remain firmly embedded in what's left of my brain.

Yup... Calgary is crawling with newer model exotics and they fail to move me anymore... I live in a district where they are a common sight and I'm rather amused by people who swoon over them...

I think that most of the owners of the newer exotics are just simply showing off their money and aren't real car enthusiasts...

Uh Oh, hope I'm not alone here. They still move me - and have from a moment in the early 60's (as an 11 year old budding motor head) when I was lucky enough to come across Ken Purdy's "Kings of the Road" in the junior high library.

Speaking for myself today, I was quite thrilled to spot a 1972 Toyota Corona Deluxe sedan a couple of hours ago, in rather good condition, rather ordinary many would say, but to me a rare car these days and something unusual... Also spotted a Mercedes 190SL in our local ranch country in a small town yesterday, a nice vintage exotic...

what? ... what? somebody mentioned Mercedes ...?

.........I was lucky enough to come across Ken Purdy's "Kings of the Road" in the junior high library.

I have that book (got it in '71). I have been fascinated by real Bugattis ever since......particularly the T35b. It's a wonderful book.

But the book that inspired me before that one was The Red Car which I read when I was about 11 or so. I was already aware of MGs because of my Dad, but this book sealed the deal.

As for common exotics, yes we see them here. We have a Bentley dealer not far away (20 minutes). Locally, I see new Bentley convertibles more often than MGBs.
I saw a McLaren F1 a while back. And I see a guy from Mendham tooling around in a Lamborghini LM002 all the time.

I know where there is a real Ferrari 250 GTO and a real 250 LM locally (although I had to promise I would not reveal the location.......people get a bit nervous when they own a $35 million car).
There is a local guy who brings his Porsche Carrera GT to car shows in the area (MSRP is almost $500,000).

I have several high-end car shops within 15 minutes of my place including https://www.stableltd.com/The Stable and High Marques.

It's cool to see these cars. I'll never own one, but I'm happy with my MGs.

According to local info, Morris County, NJ (where I live) is the eighth wealthiest county in the USA. So I guess there's enough customers for all this exotic hardware.
