So far I've been busier than I've been in years...and years. At the end of May we started working with lasers. Spent a week getting all the bits ready in the airplane for it and installing, a week of training, a week trying to get a job flown with it, several intense days of dealing with the data - which is still lingering sort of.

A side-effect of that was the need for a new computer. I spent a few days building it up and a few days getting everything set up "just right" on it, but I'm still feeling it out. It's my 4th build and the least challenging so far

The laser system uses three HDDs in an array, and one 1GB solid-state ram card. All the data has to be copied, backed-up, and processed. The copying is done on a portable computer onto a HDD mounted in a sled which slides into the new computer. Additional copies go to bare HDDs that slide into drawers on the front or USB-based drives.

The laser system also has a 60 mega-pixel camera built-in, so the raw image data has to be processed into .tif files. My first job had 280 60mp images to deal with - lots of data to keep backed-up.

Somewhere in the mix I changed the brakes and installed new speakers in the Miata - and threw my back out for several days.

T'aint even summer!

Thanks for the gif's. AND you sir, Aerog, deserved the rest even it meant throwing your back out. Some people will do anything to do nothing but rest.

We like cats, We like cats, We like cats......

Okay I'm less frustrated.

Back to summer projects and yes I work right along with Doug.

Garagemajal almost completed - 90%.
I got my kitchen reno - new appliances, new floor and cabinets rehabbed. Husband did great job. The downstairs bathroom floor is still waiting but I'm in no hurry as long as it's done by the end of the year.

Land around house has been cleaned, no excess fodder for fire. We are in an extreme fire danger situation and are hoping for monsoons and have done as much as we can outside to prevent this.

Computer situation has been a nightmare but at this writing seems to be stablized and I am hopeful.

Had a septic system malfunction but it would seem that the problem is now handled. Will know for sure in the fall. Seems for the last 15 years when we had the system pumped, no one knew there was a second cistern to pump before the actual leaching field and well, guess what happened. Hopefully there is no damage to the leaching part of the system. If there is $3000 to $6000 for a new system. Not happy so we're hoping that no damage was done. I can't believe we didn't know about the two pumping sites as we had the house built and were very hands on. Even had photos of the system along with video. Dah, what were we thinking - NOT.

When the garagemajal is totally finished we are going to PARTY! Husband can then start his restoration of Mr. Dodge (yes I named him). His truck is a '48 1/2 ton pickup and up until the last year was running at least monthly. He wants to bring it to 'good looking' status. It still runs but it looks horrible as a result of being left out for the past 11 years. All the wild critters have called it home. As for me I can't wait to take Agatha up on the lift and start a good inspection/cleaning of her underside. I know this sounds strange but it's something I've wanted to do for some time. I refused to even look underneath when she's been on a jack - I am not that brave and had visions of being crushed by my best friend.

Enough rambling - hope I haven't bored you. That would be it for summer projects.

In re-reading for typos I think I like the PARTY part best of all. :jester:

My summer project is to be alive still in the fall

Brer Mick was quick.

:smirk:

We're still putzing with the Girl Cave. Need to get the tile on the floor before moving all the "equipment" in.

Then I get my garage all to myself! THAT is the next big undertaking. Clear out the swarf and get the Elan frame separated from the body. Ugh. Not sure I have one more resto in me. :wall:

Never tell from one moment to the next.
Any day on top is better than a day below!
