When you regrease it, be sure to use a very light grease like white or lithium grease. That li'l bugger is pretty fragile, and if it bogs down in heavy grease, it can break. While you're at it, be sure that the cable is well lubricated and spinning freely, and that nothing in the tach itself is binding. I broke mine a couple of times just because the tach mechanism was a little sluggish.
