Wedge Suggestions for a color for the TR7V8 DHC

As said before, always a difficult decision. One thing to bear in mind, if you haven't already, is that darker colors tend to show imperfections in the body panels more readily than lighter colors.

The Wedge, IMHO, is one of those designs that lends itself to "flashier" colors than some of the earlier British cars. Mine is a pearl metallic color called "Lava Red" - a current Mitsubishi color. Really sparkles in the sun.

This is the best shot I have on this computer - just the front end, but you can see the effect:

I do like the "Lava Red" but alas you already have it. I always liked the deep reds but I have had one already. I am looking for something unique, something that if I see else where I know they had to have copied from me. I am getting excited about my current vision but am hoping that people will keep suggesting

i always liked white cars. plain wimbledon white. it doesn't attract attention when you (ahem) safely exceed the speed limit with a purpose (not just for fun mind you). there ought to be a special tax sticker for those of us who can exceed the speed limit safely (well that's another thread).....

I've come to love my Primrose Yellow TR3 but if I had a wedge I would need to go with Ferrari Fly Yellow.
Yellow is easy to maintain and doesn't show dirt as bad as darker colors. Best of all it's still on the rare side.

Did you ever hear about that paint called "mystic" that was on Mustangs in the mid to late-90's. Depending upon the light and how you viewed it, you would think it was a number of different colors.

Drawback, not cheap. Not sure if there is something equivalent that provides the chameleon effect.

I just re-painted my 8 and I went with the boring Midas Gold original color. I wish I had been a little more adventurous, maybe in a few years when it may need some attention again.

I am leaning toward a darker more sisister looking paint scheme that I am trying to paint shop together to see if I can show you but I am trying to work a back up plan just incase.

Here is a pic of the TR7V8 in what I beleive to be called resale red. Running, header gaskets installed, shifter fixed, needing the lucas beat out of the head lights

Woody from the Wedge Shop in MA has his painted the crimson color in the first picture and it looks B-A-D!!!!!!!

And it's got the intestinal fortitude to back up the looks.

I do like the Crimson but I need a little more "different" color I have a color in mind and I am to go see the local paint shop to get a price and see if it is do-able

Mickey, is that Binabox in front of you?

Yep. Well, the top half of it!

Well, I have been fighting the head light problem and trying to figure out the twist on the body but the 8 has made it to the shop and as I am fixing the Power Steering pump the body guy is scruffing (is that the correct term) the body. We found a sizable spot of putty (Not well done, just putty over rust in front of the driver side rear tire) But here are the final two choices. Please do not be pursuaded by the cars wearing the colors, just kind of looking for opinions. I am really looking at two criteria, Looking good on the 8 and orginality

And the proper term is "scuffing", so you were very close.

The Mystic paint on the Mustangs was a pretty weird deal. You couldn't buy the paint anywhere...there was a speciial # to call if the car was damaged and BASF would only mix up enough to do the repair. The body shop would have to send the estimate along with photos of the damage in order to get the paint order filled...

Are you going to do a complete color change to the body inside and out? Trunk and engine bay? Did you get a quote? I am curious what it costs to paint an LBC now a days. In 1983 I only paid $450.00 for an unbelievably nice no color change BRG paint job on a TR6.

I will change the color completely. The trunk has been rhino lined black inside so I will not change it but the rest will be changed. Today is ripping out the putty patch and trying to figure out how to best repair it. The engine bay will be the most challanging since I have already placed the engine back in.
