Sudden electrical miss - I'm taking guesses on thi

Bugsy had some issues two months ago with fuel pump, and distributor cap that needed to be replaced. Local LBC Shop bailed me out on these and Bugsy has been running fine in the short times I've been aboe to use him since.

On Monday I fired him up for a short run around to do some errands. I began getting a slight miss and noticed that hte tach did not seem to be registering RPM's properly. Thought need to check tach connections and wrote the slight miss of to not getting driven much in last two months.

Tuesday I got another chanch to drive Bugsy and discovered miss was getting worse. Seems to idle fine but any request for power gives me a pronounced irregular misfire. Now cap and wires were replaced, I'm not sure on rotor and yes I've heard about the bad rotors that are out there and plan on ordering a pair from Jeff at Advanced Distributors.

I'll check and make sure all wiring connections are tight. The fit of coil wire to distributor cap I don't like. Rubber boot possibly pulling center wire out of the coil. I'll work with that today but other than checking electrical how does one tell if I got a bad rotor. British Car Day in Dayton is next Saturday and Bugsy wants to go.

OK checked things out and changed rotor to an old known good one. Old rotor appears to be cracked/ chipped but replacing this item did not resolve missing issue. As it turns out cap and wires were replaced with old parts out of the boneyard to get me going. Cap and wires are possibly suspect. I'll replace those first as they are obviously well worn on the inside of the cap.

If the tach is bouncing around when it misses I would be inclined to guess its a primary side problem. loose conections at coil pionts condensor - capacitor
primary wire connections.
Check the pionts contacts if there material transfer or pits could be a condensor.

Kim,

Points checked in at .016 when I pulled the dizzy last night. I can always pull the condenser out of my dizzy on the spare 1275. Would be of course easy to swap the dizzy but for some reason the dizzy won't come out of the 1275. Back off the bolts, tug and pull and it won't come out. I'm going to swap out the cap and wires today. Need to reattach the center cap wire after I pulled it out accidentally and see if that helps.

Yes Tach was indicating about 1500
RPM too low when problem began to occur. Need to go back to check capacitor, tighten all screws/not on the coil and work back that way. Based on the fact that the tach was acting strange I think this point to ignition issues rather than fuel issues.
