SUcarbs.com Review

I just had my carbs rebuilt by SUcarbs.com, and I thought I would share my experience with the community. First off the communication was spotty. What was initially discussed as only requiring 2 to 3 weeks eventually took a little over 2 months. We had to have the front carb body replaced due to a broken thread for the choke. The body was replaced with another back body so there was no threaded hole for the vacuum advance (of course I did not figure this out until I already had both carbs on). I called the owner of SUcarbs.com to see if I was missing something, and get the thread size and pitch. He said he would look and get back to me which he never did. After some trial and error I finally got the hole threaded, and everything is up and running. The carbs do look good, but the over all transaction was not the best. I don't think I would use them again. Just my two cents.

Did you also drill it through, so it opens into the carb bore at just the right spot?

Rear carbs don't have the threads or the hole.

Yes. I drilled it through, and it seems to be in the right location. The car idles and accelerates great, except that the slave cylinder is shot haha.

FWIW, SUCarbs did mine 2 years ago, and did a good job, no complaints. But it was 2 years ago....

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Just a reminder, folks: Basil has a policy about reviewing vendors that we really need to follow. If you have a comment about a vendor, please post it in the "Vendor and Product Reviews" section. And be sure to check out the guidelines.

Thanks. Forgot about this. I have a review... but I'm saving it until a "settlement" is resolved.

I'll only indicate that I believe the company was owned by a guy named Chester out of Colorado but it changed hands in 2011.

That might explain my post...
