Thanks for the tips and info guys.
I had some Mothers polish on hand and I went at it last nite for an hour or so on 1 dashpot and the results were quite promising.

Hap, what chemical do you use to clean the dashpots with?

Ralph s, Do you just use buffing Rouge or do you use Mothers or something as a polish/cleaner on the body's with your dremmel?

Doc, that heatshield came from Gordon at the B Hive. Mark, I use a orange solvent, water based degreaser, the trick is to only leave them submege in it for a couple of minutes, most water based checmicals have aklyne (spelling?) in them and they will stain aluminum if left in there too long, also you can get those those carb cleaner buckets, they work OK, just not the same checmicals they used to have them. The thing about polishng aluminum, is they don't stay polished very long, a dashpot is easy enough to remove and repolish, a carb body is another deal and while hi temp clear paint seem to work good over color they just seem to yellow over time with bare metals. I've seen a few guy use vibrating tumbling to polish carb bodies, bur these machine some time round off the corner, and cause leaks. I've palyed around with different medias, fine glass on the carb body and flat cahmber seems to give me the finish I'm lookin for, I also use plastic media for extra tough cleaning of the inside of the dashpot and piston.
