SU H6 Damper question

I just added damper oil to the carbs. The front damper went back in with a little hydraulic pressure as I expected. The rear dampesr had much lessor hydraulic pressure. Apporximatly same amount of oil (marvel mystery oil). Do I have a problem or does it not matter? If I have a problem, is it a damper problem or a carb problem?
Found no help in the SU manual.

Your thoughts and commentary are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tinkerman

Try switching the dampers with the carburetors to determine if there's any change in resistance (might eliminate the "which is it" part of the carb or damper question). My thought is one would want them to be identical or close to it.

Were they both empty to begin with? MMO is a lot thinner than the recommended motor oil, so if one of them was already almost full of oil, the resulting mixture might be thicker than if the other was dry.

They should be roughly equal, although it won't hurt anything greatly if they aren't. The engine might run a bit rougher when you first step on the throttle.

Good idea Jay,I just checked and is definatly the damper.
Any one have a brass hat damper they would be willing to part with?

Randall, they were both empty to begin with. Some one on the forum suggested the MMO don't remember who. Worst case I will just go with what I have. Thanks for the thoughts.

Dick
