Su fuel pump

Ok so I decided to convert to an electric fuel pump on my BE. Ended up buying one of the elctronic SU ones for a Mk III. The insturctions included arent very complete so I have a few questions. The inlet and outlet nozzles, how should these be positioned? I know the outlet is supposed to be on the top but I wasnt sure if the direction they are pointing matters. Also I suppose that little 1/8 diameter nozzle is some sort of vent right? I have never looked at the fuel pump on a later spridget so if anyone has a picture of one installed in the stock position and could post it many thanks.
 
I'm pretty sure it won't matter the position. The SU in mine is mounted on its side near the gas tank. It has a round clamp mounted to an angle bracket. Once the bracket is mounted, the fuelpump can be turned around in the clamp to any angle. I just put mine in where the hoses worked out the best when I put it back in after working on it.

Man that electric fuel pump is the best couple of dollars I have put into this car. Drove it nearly 100 miles in 90+ weather this weekend without even a burp at red lights. Not really all that difficult to install either!
 
Not only that but when you are ready to crank it the float chambers are full and it starts right now.
