SU float troubles

As far as the "whimpy shift knob", my solution was a home-made one using a 4" length of fishing rod handle foam (with a 3/8" center bore) sanded and shaped for comfort. A rubber vacuum plug of the appropriate size slipped over the shifter threads, and a small freeze-plug as a cap epoxied on top. It is comfortable, falls to hand nicely and I like the look! I also have a 13" wheel (which needs replaced due to disintegrated stitching) that I will replace with a like kind!!
