IMHO, I prefer the lighter oil because it gives a quicker response, 20wt is what is recommended, 10-30 is too heavy.

If you have the 3 in 1 around it would be my choice.

Wish I could get it to start. I have fuel and spark... Timing is close.

I even checked to make sure that the distributor cant go in 180 out. It acts like it wants to start but it doesn't.

Im worried about the timing chain. But I can remember putting it on and making sure that those dots lined up perfectly.

Stressing.
 
I would bet that the gear under the dizzy is off a tooth. Pull the dizzy and the gear, reset when engine at top dead center.

Or to check, forget where the dizzy is pointing and move it significantly both advance and retard and try each.

Ok, I got it to run. Timing is still off so I need to tweak it. I had to advance it further than where I thought it should be. Just wanted to tell you before the posts piled up /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

It runs! Great to hear -- a few tasty beverages of your choice and you should have everything ready to go.
 
Still fighting one spitting carb. I think I need to re re readjust the float level. If I understand the way these carbs work that should cause a rich mixture.

What reinforces this solution for me is that when I changed out the jet bearing half of the fuel leaked out. On the first start after that it ran great until the bowl filled up again.

Sure is nice to hear it run! I even have 60PSI oil pressure at idle.
