In the process of taking apart the intake manifold and all it's components, removed the SUs from the spacers and heat shield and the interconecting lever that goes between the two 'fell off'. It's on the center spring.
How does this re-attach, assuming it wasn't attached before, nothing appeared to be securing it to either carb? Or does it just sit on top? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
 
Suspended between them. Just a tolerance fit.

as a matter of fact, I did hear ya..was putting windshield back on Bugeye...lol
 
Barry, the easiest way to finish the job when the time comes is to install the interconnect linkage between the carbs, and then install both carbs to the manifold simultaneously.

It's not as much a juggling act as it may first appear: Set the carbs on a bench, set the linkage into the "sockets" of the carb shafts (pay attention that you have the throttle shaft right-side up.... look at the illustrations in a Moss or VB catalogue), then carry 'em to the engine and set 'em on the studs.

Er yeah, it all fell apart before I got chance to get the camera out. This will be a bear, I can feel it.
Except for turning them upside sown, what's the BEST method for draining them?

I don't have a set here to get a photo of to illustrate the linkage orientation...

Inverting 'em will likely NOT drain 'em as the needle and seat of the float valve will shut off the "drain". Have you a VB or Moss carb illustration? That'll show how the linkage should be oriented. I can post a photo of MGB linkage, it's *similar* but not the same.
 
putting them together is easy...setting them properly afterwards is what gets ya /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ..zimmmmy

After reassembly, big IF, I'll be sending them to a local blind guy who can tune them with his ears. That's if I don't get too involved with replacing the valves that I end up sending them to Hap.

I've got the H2s off the 1275 sitting on my bench right now, awaiting funding so I can send them off to Hap. I figure I've got enough to do, sometimes the professionals are the way to go.
 
I did a set of HS2's for a friend in Miami. He sent 'em up here, I went thru 'em, set 'em up and shipped 'em back... He called after they were mounted and asked if there was anything "special" to be done before cranking it. "Nope! Wind it up. I'll hold." He let the pump build pressure and lit it off. I could hear hoots and hollerin' and he came back on the phone and was extatic. The 1275 Midget has been runnin' around Miami now for over a year, no problems.
