SU Carb throttle bushings!

Offline
I have some SU carbs that I'm attempting to rebuild. How do I push out the old throttle bushings? The throttle shafts and bushings appear to be worn. I want to replace these. Do I need to go over size or can't I just replace and ream to fit, I think that is is 5/16"? Thanks in advance.

The way I did my H4s was to thread a bottoming tap into the brass bush then tap it out with a pin punch from the other side. The brass bushes don't go all the way through to the inside so don't wind it in too far.

The replacement steel backed teflon bushes that came with the Burlens/SU rebuild kit were bigger OD than the original brass so I turned a reamer shank down to fit the hole on the opposite side and used that as a pilot while reaming the bushing bore with the back end of the reamer. It was the only way I could think of to keep the newly reamed bores concentric. If that makes sense. Probably not the correct way to do it but worked a treat.

Highly recommend the SU rebuild kits that Burlens are reproducing as they come with everything you will need.

Andy.
