Bought a set of HIF4's and manifold off of eBay for 90 bucks and I'm going to assume they need to be rebuilt. I know that Joe Curto does rebuilding and has a great reputations but are there anyone else out there that people have sent there carbs out to and have had good results.

There is a guy near you in La Canada regarded to be very good with SUs by the vintage MG crowd. I know him personally and he is a very nice guy as well as a hardcore MG nut. He owns a TD (daily driver) and a Y-Type. I plan to take my TC carbs to him this winter for a rebuild. If you want his info, PM me. I don't want to post it here since he doesn't advertise as a business. You have to be "in the know". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Our good friend here on the Fourm, Hap at the Acme Speed Shop in Carolina does them as well. His web site. https://www.acmespeedshop.com/

Now let me warn you, Hap likes to talk about little cars. So only call when you have a bit of time. lol.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Jacks right! Mail them to Hap and when you get them back, they will not only work like new, they will look like new also. He redone a pair of HIFs for me and when I got them back, they looked like a brand new set of carbs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif PJ

Does anyone have any recommendations for Virginia or the D.C. area? I'm going to rebuild my HIF-4s very soon, but don't want to do the rebushing for the throttle shaft or mess with the throttle disc myself.

After a bit of research I have found any of the folks that rebuild carbs will do just the throtle bushings if that is your wish.

Aha, perhaps it is to them I should turn my inquires, then! Healey surgeons might do HIF4s, as they're very similar to good ol' Healey SUs.

100-6, Whats wrong with them fellars over in White Post Virginia?------"White Post Restorations"---Keoke-?

They have done two Master Cylinders for me 40 years apart. First one was excellent second no clue as yet.

Are those guys at White Post still around? There was a time - 20 years ago - when they were the last word in restorations, but I understood that Billy had retired and I've lost track since then. If there was any continuity in transferring ownership then they're an excellent choice.

Many a dollar of clients' purses were sent up there for Rollie bits from our shop "back-when." I too am surprised it's still there.
