Ok ,Old age has really set in, I have the Mallory Unilite Dizzy, for my rewire does the electric tach hook into the coil or somehow the dist????
I know this is is stupid!!!

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers!

What does the tach manufacturer say? Did it come with instructions? If you bought a used tach without any documentation, have you checked the manufacturer's website?

I wouldn't expect Mallory to answer this one, the tach manufacturer would be the best source. But, just in case, Mallory has extensive info on their website at https://www.mrgasket.com There is a searchable forum with FAQs, too.

Alan- Plan on using a redone smith tach.

The ones I have seen go to the distributor side of the coil and also need a ground. And if it is a positive ground vehicle you have to switch the wires around.

Clearly, you're not a teacher.

I actually had a teacher once who said; 'There are no stupid questions, just stupid people who ask questions. Once you answer their question, they are no longer stupid.' At least in regards to that particular question, even if it leads to more questions. Then again, some people remain stupid even after the question has been answered. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

When people talked in class, interrupting him, he would stare at them until they stopped. When they would notice and say "I'm Sorry", he would say "Don't be sorry, be QUIET!" If you went on too long without noticing that the rest of the class and the teacher were staring at them, he would toss a chalkboard eraser your way.

"There are no stupid questions, only inquiitive idiots" The tach is the only peice of my 8 i have never figured out, it idle fine, it runs up to 2000 RPMS fine then drops dead, unless I have the heater on at which time it occasioanlly works. I bought a Woody kit to make it work (It has MSD system) I have been waiting just once to run into woody and ave him acutally look at it to see what I did wrong.....
