Dan's schematics are great and pretty. One thing he doesn't label. Which side of the coil is which.
The white wire goes to the (+) correct??

According to the schematics I have the white wire is goes to the pos side of the coil... it should come from the ignition switch.

Just for clarity (and others who may read this thread), the white wire goes to (+) only if you are working on a negative ground car without an external ballast resistor (like Don's TR6).

So my sense wire on my tach also goes to the (-) correct?

If it has only one sense wire, then yes. Some of the earlier Smiths tachs had two sense connections, and got connected in series with the hot terminal on the coil.

Retro'd TR6 tach
Always best to check with whoever did the conversion ... but almost certainly it goes to the coil (-).

Unless of course you're using a fancy ignition box (like a MSD 6).

Nope

OR......if you have a Pertronic's ignition, the Red goes to the Positive and the Black to Negative.

Looks like a GM HEI module ??
