Stupid Q dejour | After Market Gauges

Dead dual gauge (temp. gauge will not work). While I send this out, can I just buy any cheapo after market gauge at my local Napa for a functional plug and play? Are the senders all pretty standard?

Thanks!

just to confirm the obvious - but you did check the gauge with boiling water? I thought mine was broken but the glass was binding the needle

I know a number of folk who have replaced the bulb themselves, I haven't but it seems easy

If you have the old sending unit out check the threads of the jamb nut and compare them to the threads on the jamb nut of the aftermarket gauge. There's a good chance that those will match. It't the adaptor threads that are usually different. You'll have to use a mechanical gague, the electric sending units will definitely not have the correct threads to match.

Yep, checked using boiling water. I removed gauge from dash and checked - the needle doesn't *appear* to be binding.

thanks!

Thanks for the tips, everyone!
