The wife and I were out enjoying 50 degree weather up here and stopped in to check out a 100 year old home for sale that was an "open house" today. The young agent says the owners are older and moving on and there is an old car still in the two car detached garage out back . She thinks its an Aston Martin but what would she know? Well the day has definitely taken a turn for the better as I go in the garage and pull the cover back on a 63 Healey BJ7 - unrestored . Not really interested in the house but I'm thinking that Healey might need to be bought before they roll it out to the street. I didn't want to make it a big deal by taking a picture in front of the agent but left my phone number . My wife jokes that I don't even have to look anymore, they find me!
When I read that you were out in 50 degree weather, I thought ' Wow! Even hotter that a Queensland summer'. Then I realised that you were talking in Fahrenheit!
What a great stroke of luck! We all hope that the Healey can be recovered before the house is sold.
And you are not camped out at the garage! Get back over asap! If you found it, someone esle will too. I've missed a couple of great cars that way. One house I sold years ago a prospective buyer showed up in a black 3000. I wouldn't even let him look at the house until I looked the car over. Told him that would be a good deposit on the house.
That's how we acquired our car. Back in 1978 mom was selling real estate and listed a house where the owner had a Healey he also wanted to sell. She told my dad about it and he went and bought it. I remember looking at it in a cramped garage on a cold Buffalo night. It was unloved looking--glad my dad could see past its problems. He had a bug for Healeys ever since he rode in a 100 that a frat brother had. Deal done, and my mom sold the house.
