Ah, that little thing saved my engine one night. I had just changed the oil in my celica, but accidently left the old O-ring in place. Needles to say I created an oil slick down the road at night, but the engine killed off as soon as the pressure dropped off the gauge. I might have drove on until a bearing spun if that thing hadn't killed the engine.
 
20R was my first foray into Japanese engines. Rebuilt one as a "job interview" at a just-opened British car repair shop, ex-pat English fella desperate for work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I came away from that with a greater respect for Toyota. It ~IS~ a tractor engine. Bearings the size of truck parts, all machining was impressive. Truly over-engineered. Hondas & Datsun were not nearly as well done "back then."
 
I was so impressed I got one myself later down the road after the frame on my Dodge Dart stopped supporting major suspension bits. Needed a cheap, rear wheel drive car with simplicity in design so I could fix it myself. Late 70's Celicas definately fit the bill. $600 for 2 years of service with no downtime worked just fine for me. Plus SWMBO would never drive it so I always knew how much gas would be in the tank on monday morning /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
