stubborn door locks

Hiya, I haven't been around in a while....that can be a good thing depending on how you look at it(no problems /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) but now I got one for ya(two actually):...Just finished completely rebuilding the carbs on the 61 MGA....is there anything to watch out for while reinstalling them??? Also the MGB LE has been in the shop for a month waiting for a new clutch, mechanic says it will be done by friday(I wish I could believe him) anyway once we do get it back we plan on getting some use out of it...one problem with that is the stupid door locks the P.O put some special security locks that require a round key(similar to a bike lock)he then promptly lost the keys!!! so now my question is can I get replacement keys somewhere or do I have to replace the whole lock???

Thanks
Zack

just pick it with one of those cheap soft plastic 'bic' ball point pens... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Just find a local locksmith and he will be able to straighten you out in a few minutes...make an appointment to go see him at his conveineience and he will probably not charge you much more than what the parts would cost you to do it yourself.

on the subject of replacing locks... one of the PO's of my car lost the complete set of keys to ALL of the locks on my 'B. So, I've been watching prices for lock sets the more complete the better. I need glove box, trunk, and doors. I've seen a set of 4 on eBay for buy it now prices around $50... I think the kits I was looking at used a single key for all 4 locks too. Anyways, you could either replace your lock set, or do as Bruce suggested. Probably a lot cheaper to have a locksmith remake the keys for your "security" locks.

Sounds like a plan.....now if only the mechanic could hurry up with the clutch we'd be on our way.

I was flipping through the Moss catalogue looking for a new interior door pull, witch of course they don't have in tan(champagne) But they do haveit in every other colour /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif ......anyway I noticed the "security door lock set"(item# 401-628) these are exactly the locks in the LE "proven to increase protection dramatically" ,yes especially when you can't lock it due to an absent minded P.O. I wonder if Moss can make me up a new set if i can find an I.D # or something on them??
