Stromberg Problem

My TR6, probably like most in the Northeast hasn't run in quite a while due to bitter cold temperatures.
While breaking sidewalk ice this afternoon, I decided to try to start it and let it run to temp.
Pulling the choke out full, in less than one revolution of the starter, the engine was running.
There MUST be a problem!

I'm not surprised. in the '60's when I had Triumphs they always started in the coldest weather even when other cars didn't. I think it was because the side draft carbs did not tend to flood the engine.

Nice try Doug. You almost got me out of this nice warm chair and out into the freezing garage, just to see if mine would start as fast.

I'm not really surprised. I had a TR3, TR4, and TR6 as daily drivers back in the '60s and '70s and they always started in very cold weather. Then there was the time in Boston when I was going to school at Northeastern and had to get my date back to the dorm and the battery was a bit flat in the TR4 due to being really cold. Not enough juice to crank the engine over. My date was getting nervous, but I whipped the crank out, (no, not that crank :laugh: ) and on the second try, it was running.
