Stromberg Leaking Fuel

Hello,

I am having a problem with fuel leaking out the bottom of one carburetor. I have changed the O-ring on the lower screw adjustment, but still have a leak problem. Can someone point me in the right direction as to the most likely cause of my problem.

.........Thanks, Alex

May be the float level is set high or the float is not turning off the flow, so it is leaking out the seam?

If you have another carb then swap the bottom screws and see if it follows to the new carb. I assume you have dual carbs.

Yes, I did replace the O-ring on the bottom screw. I will play with the float next to make sure it's ok. We'll let you know.

..........Cheers, Alex

Hi Alex,

Are you referring to the O ring on the plug that you pry out of the bottom of the float bowl underneath the carb?

Cheers,
M. Pied Lourd

You mean #27.
Is it leaking there or at ....
Hey thy don't show the bolt on the bottom

I believe both O-rings #25 and #27 could cause leakage if not sealing properly.

That's my thinking too. I will change out that O-ring also. It's a pretty good trickle of fuel that is leaking. Thanks for the help everyone.

.......Cheers, Alex

Woo hoo! No more leak. It was O-ring 25. The old one was pretty dried out. I changed it and ....voila. No more leak. She's running a little rough, but drivable. It idles a little high and if I try to slow it down a little, I get a fair bit of engine vibration. It seems to be a fine line between fast idle, stalling, and vibration. I'll keep tinkering.

........Cheers, Alex
