Stromberg Dash Pot Screws

Car is a '69 E-Type with dual Strombergs. The top (dash pot) is held on by 4 screws. I noticed a while back that one of the 4 screws is longer than the other three on both of the carbs. I was talking to a parts guy at one of the Jag parts distributors and asked him about that. He said that he vaguely remembered once at a show seeing this and that the longer screw had a hole drilled in it. He recalls that there was a wire going thru the hole with a small piece of lead crimped on it. He doesn't remember what the crimped lead looks like and has no idea what it was for. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Yes.
they where set at the factory....no need to reset.
You should switch out to adjustable needles.
My restored car as them, but new dash pots fitted.

Okay, I'll admit I have a seal maker -- I do open them up.

I installed TR4 adjustable jets to make it easy to dial in the mixture - otherwise you are left with moving the needle a bit or taping down the fixed jet.
