hey all.
first of all, i hope this is the right place, i couldnt find a general tech section to post so yeh.
anyways, i have a 1979 chyrsler (hillman) hunter, and am for a simple upgrade for the current carb, a stromberg 150cd. i can get my hands on a 175cd for cheap, and was hoping people would be able to tell me the difference between the two? i have searched the net but to no avail.

any help would be great thanks
Andrew

One is a 1-1/2" bore (150), the other is a 1-3/4" bore (175). I believe that the 150's also use a 2-bolt mounting flange to the manifold where as the 175 uses a four bolt flange. Other than that, the prinicpals of operation are the same.

yeh i think that you are right about the mounting flanges. so being a bigger bore, i assume the 175 would be a better (higher flowing) carb?

cheers

It would be dependent upon the draw of the engine. A larger carb can flow more air but it could compromise idle quality for top end power. What size engine is in your Hillman and have you done any other performance work to it? Increased the compression etc...

its a standard 1725cc cast iron head version, as opposed to the alloy head. and no, i have done nothing to the engine.
cheers

Can anyone on this site help me with an early lower main jet adjuster for the non polution 175cd card. I baught two of these, but they are missing thes adjusting screw so I want to make them but do not know what they look like.

Just a suggestion, Larrym, it usually works better if you start a new thread for a new question. Many people will have already looked at this one and decided they weren't interested (or the question had been adequately answered) and so won't see your new question.

Sorry I can't help, my ZS carbs are all emission versions.
