Stripped windshield frame screw hole

In drilling out the old screws I damaged (enlarged) two holes that I subsequently patched with an aluminum epoxy compound before installing the windshield glass. Unfortunately the screws won't hold in the repaired frame. The standing ridge within the frame that really holds the thread was also damaged - not just the hole.

Any suggestions on a repair from the outside of the frame? Do they make inserts this small? I got lucky with the glass installation once. Don't want to remove it and do it again...

I would epoxy the screws in the oversized holes. When it needs to come apart next you will have to drill out the screws but at least it will last for the next 10 or 20 years at which time someone else can worry about it.

Thanks Bill. Given how the old screws had seized in the frame I might as well use epoxy. Good thought.
 
I drilled mine out and put helicoils in. Very easy to do and you don't have to remove anything but the old screw.

I have ordered some ez lok 10-32 inserts. 5/16 od. I imagine they are the same? Glad to know it will work.

I actually used Perma-Coil brand 10-32 fine, pn 1208-201, and found it easy to use, but it does take a little practice and a drop of libricant going into aluminum. The kit is complete and you learn by feel using the supplied tool.
