Stripped threads engine block

I just used Time sert inserts to repair stripped threads in the block for head bolts and I must admit that they are a perfect fit... Was a bit worried but the kit worked well.
In my humble opinion, better than Helicoil system. I`m not a salesman, just relieved and happy that it worked. I recommend.

Timeserts are a good repair, especialy if you have the room, as they are quite wide compared to Heli-Coils. Also, IIRC, you don't need a special STI (Screw Thread Insert) tap. However, at work we do hundreds of thread repairs a week and prefer the Heli-Coils because of cost and speed of installation as we use air powered installation tools and automatic tappers. Also, I don't think Timeserts have the range of thread sizes offered by Heli-Coil. We repair threads ranging from 3mm up to up 5/8"

Glad you got the block repaired.

Used them on the Wedge block I am pulling out. Seems to hold just fine

Don, are these the same as the "Keen-Serts" that we use in the trailing arms?

That's what I figured on in my response.
So if it isn't ,never mind

The Timeserts and Keenserts are very similar.
