TR6 Strengthening the TR6 chassie

Since I have the engine out of my TR6 I am planning on doing the chassis strengthening as discussed in Roger Williams book. My question is looking at the lower pivot bracket on my car it appears there is one of the brackets already on the frame so did someone only do half of what they were suppose to do? And if I purchase a kit say from TRF do I get all 8 brackets?
And has anyone done this them selves? it also looks like you add a stiffening plate to the steering rack cross member

well seems no one has added the gussets to their cars, well I ended up making some and will weld them in with in the next few weekends after I clean up all the grease and oil on the frame, I am also going to dig into the front end and see why my steering is more difficult that I think it should be

I'm pretty sure Tom did this on at least one of his TR4A's.

Hi guys - I did this on both the TR6 and TR4A.

I ended up making my templates, kind of a pain, but better to make them oversize since every car fit is different. The ones from TRF were well made, but a bit on the small side.

I have pictures if you need them...

I might have a few front chassis plates somewhere leftover new, not a complete set. Let me see what I can find.

yes I just made mine using a piece of card board and fitting and trimming and then cut them out of 1/8 inch steel. that should work just fine

Steering rack to lower a mounts done, my welding needs a little practice but better than nothing

Looks a lot like my welding (just starting to learn hehe). Proudly just call it Gorilla Welding! Big Strong Ugly! =p

I'm actually going to be doing a lot of reinforcing on my frame before i put everything back on, including, and I forget where I saw this, but it appears to be a very good idea, particularly since I'm planning on doing the RATCO shock in coil conversion, a piece of angle iron the whole length of the rear shock tower / front differential mount assembly.

alot of my problem is there is a lot of grease on the frame and in crevaces that I cannot clean out and once the metal heats up the grease starts flowing and the weld starts spatering, It tough to get all the grease out with out steam cleaning the front end and thats not happening so I got to figure anything is better than nothing at all
