Streaming Internet Radio

I've been streaming Imus for a while (WFAN Radio) and I do an occasional PodCast from NPR, but here's a music-only site with neat features (I saw this on another forum):

https://www.pandora.com/

You can customize streaming music to anything you like (and then, it will pick similar stuff.....which is easy to edit if they start to pick stuff you don't like).
Just fire it up, minimize (so it plays in the background) and continue surfing.

Right now, I'm streaming Jackson Browne, Jim Croce, America..stuff like that.
But you can choose anything artist or style you like.

There are a few other similar sites.
This one was pretty painless to set up and works well.

Boy oh boy, that is cool. Don't think I would pay for it but as a freebe it is super.

Launchcast Radio on Yahoo is another freebie (though you only have so much air time per month). Lots of themes available, both free and for a fee. You can subscribe to get unlimited time and stations, but the freebies are pretty neat. I'm listening to Classic Latin right now - great stuff.

XM offers streaming music too. Sure you have to sign-up but it's free to none subscribers.

In fact I've got it playing in the back ground right now. Cheirman of the board - "Give me just a little more time" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

I have Glen Miller and big bands.

Wish I could listen to it.......
Apparently 14 yrs of artillery didn't damage my hearing enough to enjoy it.

Thought after I bought the new Polk Audio XRT-12 XM tuner w/ its Burr-Brown DA converter, maybe satellite radio would sound better.

Well it doesn't /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif........And streaming audio is about as enjoyable as listening to an engine coming apart.

Mine works great, just like being there.

Wonderful selections and they just keep on comming.

great site ,only problem is to create an account you need a us zip code, so i used the one my son had when he was in university in maine

Whenever a "free" site requires that info, I tell 'em I'm a female born in 1900, no college, living in Beverly Hills (90210). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Great site added it to my favs,

I listen to mvyradio.com streaming live direct from Martha's Vineyard. Jazz, Blues, rock, folk, live performances from some of the clubs on the Island - Got that mellow 60's sound. It was a real pain to get setup but that's probably because I'm mostly computer self taught ignorant. It's suppose to just work when you push the on button right?

At least, you gona like the new Microsoft operating system. Wow is it nice and smart too.

I just keep this link going, it's great.

That site is fantastic. In a few seconds it started with a song (by 'Pulp') I haven't heard in years. I'll see if it can find some Glenn Miller too.
Hope it has better luck than the RAF, but hey. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
It's podcastable (is that a word) too!

EDIT: 24/7 Tom Jones!!!! Yeah! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
