Strange New MINI

I was out driving the Miata yeserday (top down, of course) and a strange-looking new MINI appeared behind me. The nose was quite different from other BMW MINIs: it had fog lights faired into the grill, but "bumping up" above the leading edge of the hood (engine cover). The grill was shaped differently too. I've seen the new MINIs with the optional high-mounted fog lamps: it wasn't one of those. My guess would be that it was a fiberglass afermarket nose for the new MINI, but I surfed around and didn't see anything like this.
Oddly, I was tailing a '63 split-window Corvette when he came up behind me.

I saw pictures of a weird body kit too but can't remember where. There must be a lot out there now and maybe some are not on websites yet.

Could it be one of the Monte Carlo Anniversary models? I saw one in a mini mag not too long ago and it sounds sort of like it.

Our local dealer got a couple in. They didn't have unusual bodywork.

PC.
