Strange event ?

Took a road trip yesterday with the 65 , almost home and a fellow driver told me I was dragging something, pulled over and here it was my rear right(passenger) lever shock. Turns out either both bolts that hold it to the frame either came loose or sheered off. Unfortunately the dragging polished off most of one of the bolt dog ears. No bending on the frame or enlargement of the bolt holes, no other damage slso cheecked the other side, good condition. I had kind of a high speed jumpy start at one point during the trip and heard something clank but all continued to run smooth. Would it have been possible for the axle to have torqued and sheared those bolts #8 during that start? Anyone else ever loose one of these this way. It does not seem that my axle is moving, no scrapes or twists at connection points???

I'd guess that the bolts/nuts just worked themselves loose.

Seems odd to loose two at once, does any one know, possibly Peter C how much pressure is put on these tow bolts.
Order coming your way, unfortunately

I doubt they came loose simultaneously. More likely one came loose which increased stress on the remaining bolt. The shock body then imparted some turning motion onto the bolt and there ya go. The first one was probably long gone when the second gave way. Unfortunately, one can not interview the neighboring bolts for the timeline.

Agreed, I guess crap just happens!Really doesn't effect the ride much.

Try putting 100 pounds in the boot and seeing how it affects the ride much...

I don't think she will like that much, its hard enough getting her to ride around with me in the seat.
