MGB Strange daily question.

Whitey my MGB with a V6 and auto tranny, GM of course needs to know if towing with rear wheels on the ground without unbolting the drive shaft will cause problems. I know that it must be disconnected for Spridgets, Keep in mind General Motors automatic tranny.

Snowing here in Tuckahoe NY again, hard.

Discretion being the better part of valor, since it's an automatic, and since driveshaft removal is pretty simple, no question in my mind that the driveshaft needs to come out. Only other option is to trailer it.

I towed a Bugeye ME to Atl on a dolly. Unbolted rear of the drive shaft and wired it up tight to body. No probs.

That would work as well, Jack. I was thinking you were considering "4-down" towing with all wheels on the ground. Either way, the driveshaft needs to be disconnected.

Ha, no longer any way I can get under the car to bolt and unbolt the drive shaft. Guess I will just have to put in Air and Power steering and go for it.

I suspect, especially with Covid having the car shipped will be easier and more convenient in every possible way. Especially when the car is still in shakedown phase.

Sorry for the confusion. The car will be shipped for many obvious reasons. However I have a cabin in the mountains of NC with room for a MGB as well as my Acura and is only 2 1/2 hours from my home in Atlanta. Will have a grandson bring it up. He is in his early 20s.

It will probably dump fluid if the prop shaft is removed?

If the shaft is just disconnected at the rear, it should be no issue. I don't know what auto trans is in there, but if the shaft is totally removed, there should be a plug/cap available for the transmission output, shouldn't there?

Changing the subject just a little, my most recent alma mater is in Decatur and our sister church has a retreat centre just outside of Asheville - one way or the other, when the world is a little more upside right, I would love to buy you a beverage and catch up in person - not to mention ooing and ahhing over the car (and maybe even in the car!)
