STOP !!!! Don't toss that out....

I'm looking for some spare copies of the recent February 2006 issue of Austin Healey Magazine. This is the issue with our blue Bugeye on the cover and the story of my trip to Montana. I know some folks keep all their issues and have boxes of them. That's cool. And some folks read 'em and toss 'em. If you are about to toss your copy, PLEASE...I would like to have it.

You can either send it to me directly (takes 3 first class stamps), or email me your address and I will send you a prepaid and addressed return envelope for your convenience.

I would just get some copies from the club, but they keep the extras for the new member packets through out the year. Thanks for your help.

Well BrianN, if you do not get adequate reponse to your request. You can take the magazine to most any high quality camera shop and they can reproduce the cover in any size you want while you wait and in excellent quality. Not too pricey either.---Fwiw---Keoke

I would guess the magazine would send copies. They have sent me extra whenever I had a picture in it.

I was Editor of Austin-Healey Magazine from mid-2002 until the end of 2005, and it was always my practice to send contributors a few extra copies of the issue with their contribution. (Just as it is now my practice to do the same thing with my new magazine.) If I were you, I would first check with the current editor of Austin-Healey Magazine to ask if he sends extra copies to contributors. If he declines the request, you might call the club president about buying a few extras from the stockpile. They will have extras to be used for including in New Member Packets throughout the current year (everyone who joins gets a copy of all issues already printed in the year they join, up to a cut-off date in late summer).

I cannot imagine that they would deny you some extras, especially if you pay the postage. Unless they badly underestimated the number to get printed and are anticipating running short, sending a contributor a few extras is (or at least used to be) routine; no one needed to even ask as it happened automatically.

I made the calls to the editor etc. and was just trying to respect the need for the extra copies for new members. Apparently for this issue there were not a lot of extras to go around and retrieving the ones otherwise being tossed out might be a good thing to do. I'll gladly pay the club for some, but have not found the person who handles the extras if there are any.
