Stock radio

Thanks for the pictures. I may give it a try. My radio being AM/FM it doesn't sound too bad on the road. Particularly the AM, I can listen to sports talk pretty clean even on the interstate, and like Keoke says, I think it's kind of cool to have the original radio that came with the car working well.

Later,
Drew

I was just wondering if it was stock myself, though the BBC did start FM broadcasting in 1955.
Hi Paul,
I just did a little digging. My BJ8 (67) had a very similar radio to yours. It is an Audiovox. There are a couple differences, but mine could just be a couple years newer. The photo shows that mine can have the polarity changed, so maybe yours will too. I know the radio has been in the car a long time. I just don’t know if it was factory, dealer installed or aftermarket. A marginal note of interest: the original bill of sale doesn’t mention a radio. It does list wind-up windows though. Oh, and seatbelts were an extra $15.95.

Unfortunately, I don't get the car unit April to verify anything. I flew up in October to tow it back with my Dad and found the Healey's track to be too narrow to fit on the U-Haul tow dolly! It's coming home via flatbed in ~45 days... I'll either post a reply or a new thread with descriptions and photos of the radio when it arrives. I'm not looking to build a museum piece, but a car I could feel confident driving cross country without any irreversible modifications. A negative ground alternator is (possibly) part of that equation.
